Have our clients failed treatment? Or have we failed our clients?

Do your counselors understand addiction? Are we really focusing our treatment on meeting clients where they’re at? Or are we missing the connection completely?

Did you know?

A 2011 study conducted by James White of Cardiff University concluded that children with a higher IQ are more susceptible to using illegal drugs when they reach adulthood than those with average.

Many of our clients are smarter than we are.

In addition to the other developmental tasks faced by many adolescents they may be faced with the challenge of achieving social acceptance within “a peer culture aimed at conformity and does not value intellect”.

Many of our clients remain socially inept.

Continual substance use changes the brain, which can make drug use compulsive, despite negative consequences.

Many of our clients think differently than we do.

While most often a precipitating factor occurs, leading a person into treatment, most remain conflicted regarding ending use completely in the early stages of recovery. Studies show those who enter drug treatment programs as a result of loving pressure, do comparatively better in treatment, regardless of the reason folks sought treatment.

You don’t have to hit Rock Bottom for treatment to be effective.

Our Clinical Team is available to assist your staff in applying best practice theoretical approaches to engage clients and retain them to complete treatment and provide the necessary tools to sustain long-term recovery.
